Indonesia will bring the strength of its agro and food processing industries to the international stage through its participation as the Official Partner Country at INNOPROM 2026, the largest industrial exhibition in the Eurasian region, taking place from July 6-9, 2026, in Yekaterinburg, Russia. Through the Indonesian pavilion, nine national industry players will showcase various superior products, ranging from spirulina and specialty coffee to processed foods, aromatherapy products, and cosmetics. This participation is part of the government's strategy to expand market access while opening opportunities for industrial partnerships with member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

"The agro-industry is one of the strategic sectors that forms Indonesia's manufacturing strength. Supported by abundant natural resources and the ability to produce value-added products, we are optimistic that this sector will become increasingly competitive in the global market. By participating as the Official Partner Country at INNOPROM 2026, Indonesia aims to expand investment, trade, and mutually beneficial industrial partnership opportunities with countries in the Eurasian region," said the Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, in Jakarta (June 29).

This optimism is supported by the national agro-industry's performance, which has continued to show a positive trend in recent years. In the first quarter of 2026, this sector contributed 52.37 percent to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of non-oil and gas manufacturing industries, or approximately 9.12 percent of the national GDP. Its growth reached 5.70 percent, exceeding the average national economic growth and confirming its role as one of the main pillars of Indonesia's manufacturing sector.

In addition to being the largest contributor to the manufacturing industry, the agro sector also employs approximately 10 million workers. In terms of trade, agro-industry exports reached USD 18.92 billion in the first quarter of 2026, with a trade balance surplus of USD 13.78 billion. Indonesia also maintains its position as the world's largest palm oil producer with an annual capacity of over 51 million tons of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) and Crude Palm Kernel Oil (CPKO). Furthermore, it is a major producer of rubber, coffee, cocoa, seaweed, and essential oils.

Acting Director General of Agro-Industry at the Ministry of Industry, Putu Juli Ardika, stated that INNOPROM 2026 is the right platform to bring together the industrial strengths of both countries. "Indonesia has great potential in the agro and food processing sectors, supported by raw material availability, production capacity, and continuously developing processing capabilities. Through INNOPROM 2026, we want to expand business networks while introducing Indonesian agro-industry products to potential partners in the Eurasian region," he said.

According to him, the combination of both countries' advantages opens wide opportunities for collaboration. Indonesia offers strength in tropical commodities, value-added processed food production capacity, and access to the Southeast Asian market. On the other hand, Russia excels in modern agricultural technology and the food processing industry. Besides being the world's largest wheat exporter, Russia has developed precision agriculture technology, large-scale food logistics systems, and capabilities in fermentation, food preservation, and agricultural biotechnology.

Russia's strengths in modern agricultural technology and food processing include being the world's largest wheat exporter, with export volumes reaching 41 million tons in 2025 and projected to increase to 55 million tons in 2026. Russia is also a major producer of sunflower seeds, phosphate fertilizers, and high-tech processed food products. More than 40 percent of its agricultural sector has implemented satellite-based precision farming technology, field automation, and digital supply chain management systems. Additionally, Russia possesses expertise in fermentation technology, low-temperature food preservation, seafood processing, and agricultural biotechnology to support long-term food security.

This potential will be showcased through eight companies and institutions representing various sub-sectors of the national agro and food processing industry: PT. Alga Bioteknologi Indonesia (ALBITEC), PT Surabaya Indah Permai, PT. Canela Megah Jaya, PT. MAM Furniture Mitra Abadi Mebel, the Indonesian Pulp and Paper Association, PT Siantar Top, the Estate Crop Fund Management Agency (BPDPKS), and PT Mayora Indah Tbk.

The presence of these industry players also provides an opportunity to expand business networks directly with potential partners in Russia and EAEU member countries. One of the Indonesian agro-industry co-exhibitors stated that participation in INNOPROM 2026 is expected to open new export markets and bring Indonesian business actors together with industrial partners in Russia and EAEU member countries to explore various sustainable cooperation opportunities.

The participation of the agro-industry and food processing sectors in the Indonesian Pavilion at INNOPROM 2026 is part of a national strategy to expand market access for value-added manufacturing products to the Eurasian region. This momentum is further strengthened by the implementation of the Indonesia-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement (I-EAEU FTA), signed in December 2025. The agreement provides tariff preferences for 90.5 percent of tariff lines, opening greater opportunities for Indonesian industrial products to enter the Eurasian market. With the support of this agreement, INNOPROM 2026 is expected not only to be a promotional event but also to generate investment, industrial partnerships, and trade cooperation that provide real benefits for both parties.
