Ministry of Industry Strengthens Indonesia’s Industrial Diplomacy Ahead of INNOPROM 2026

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) has officially launched the Kick-Off Preparation for Indonesia as the Partner Country at the Industrial International Exhibition (INNOPROM) 2026. This agenda marks a strategic step in strengthening Indonesia’s industrial diplomacy at the global level while opening new opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment, and technology.

The event also featured the signing of a cooperation agreement between Kemenperin and Formika Event, the organizer of INNOPROM. This collaboration serves as the initial foundation to ensure Indonesia’s optimal participation as the Partner Country at Russia’s largest industrial exhibition, which will take place in Yekaterinburg in July 2026.

During the event, Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry Eko S.A. Cahyanto, representing Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, underscored the importance of Indonesia’s participation in INNOPROM 2026 as a strategic opportunity to strengthen the position of Indonesia’s industrial sector on the global stage.

“Indonesia’s participation as the Partner Country of INNOPROM 2026 is a significant momentum to showcase our industrial capabilities and competitiveness to the world. We aim to ensure that Indonesia’s presence is not merely as a participant, but as a strategic partner demonstrating our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and inclusive industrial growth,” said Eko at the Kick-Off Preparation event in Jakarta on Tuesday (21/10).

Eko explained that the manufacturing sector continues to play a vital role in the national economy. As of August 2025, Indonesia’s non-oil and gas manufacturing exports reached USD 147.90 billion, accounting for 79.92% of total national exports, with a 16.92% contribution to GDP.

“Indonesia also ranked 13th globally in manufacturing value added in 2024, and first in Southeast Asia, with a value reaching USD 265 billion. These achievements demonstrate the strength and competitiveness of our industrial sector, reinforcing Indonesia’s position as a regional hub for manufacturing and innovation,” he continued.

As Russia’s largest industrial exhibition, INNOPROM is recognized as a major meeting point for global industrial players. Each year, the event gathers more than 700 exhibitors from 50 countries and attracts tens of thousands of visitors. As the Partner Country, Indonesia will take center stage with a national pavilion showcasing the nation’s manufacturing capability, technological innovation, and creative industrial potential.

Indonesia’s participation is further supported by various free trade agreements (FTA) and comprehensive economic partnership agreements (CEPA) with key partner countries, including ASEAN. Products manufactured in Indonesia now enjoy preferential access to a market of more than 2.5 billion consumers worldwide. In addition, Indonesia is actively supporting the completion of the Indonesia–Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement (IEAEU-FTA), which will further expand trade and investment opportunities with Russia.

Director General of Industrial Resilience, Regional Development, and International Industrial Access (KPAII), Tri Supondy, emphasized that the kick-off event marks the official start of preparations leading up to INNOPROM 2026.

“Beyond initiating cross-ministerial and institutional coordination, this event also marks the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Kemenperin and Formika as the organizer of INNOPROM, strengthening industrial cooperation between both countries,” Tri stated.

A similar view was expressed by Anton Atrashkin, Business Program Director of Formika Event.

“We want this partnership to be more than just a political event. It should bring tangible benefits to Indonesian industry players and businesses. We are opening opportunities for collaboration in transportation technology, energy, modern urban technologies, and industrial digitalization—areas that are also top priorities for Indonesia,” he said.

Through INNOPROM 2026, Indonesia aims to demonstrate to the world that its industrial sector is ready to compete globally—not only as a producer of raw materials, but as a center for manufacturing, innovation, and sustainable industrial solutions. With strong momentum in collaboration and downstreaming, Indonesia is entering a new chapter as an emerging industrial power in Asia.
Kemenperin hopes that industrial diplomacy will continue to strengthen Indonesia’s global image while fostering a resilient, sustainable, and competitive national industrial structure.
